Website for Hotel Alpina in Grächen: direct bookings in four languages
2 September 2026 · 2 min
Hotel Alpina is a mountain hotel in the Sonnendorf Grächen, at 1'620 m in Upper Valais. I designed and built a complete website for the hotel — the working version is here. This is the kind of work I do for places to stay.
What the site does
- Booking in three steps. Room, guests and payment, with a photo and nightly price for each room; rooms too small for the party disable themselves.
- Two ways to close. Pay online through the hotel’s official booking engine, opened inside the site with dates, guests and language already filled in; or request by e-mail, for guests who prefer to pay on arrival.
- Four languages. German, French, Italian and English, switching the whole site instantly — including the checkout and the booking e-mail it generates.
- Contact without friction. A clickable phone number on every page, a contact form and the legal pages (Impressum and data protection).
- Technical SEO. Meta tags, Open Graph for shared links and Schema.org structured data, so Google can show the address, prices and reviews.
- Performance and accessibility. Lazy-loaded images, animations that respect system preferences and optimised typography.
Why this matters for a place to stay
Every booking made on the hotel’s own site is a booking without a platform commission. Someone already on your site should not have to leave it to book, and someone searching in German or English needs to see the same information in their language — the price included.
